 Poster: A snowHead

I've got a collection of older phones, an ipad with dust under the screen - some working, some locked, some working but cracked backs etc.
Any suggestions of the best way to get them either recycled or get the going rate without having to list each one on ebay?

Vodafone do old tech collection at their stores, working in conjunction with Barnardo's.

@kitenski, these people (who I have used for recycling empty printer cartridges) will also buy old tablets and mobile phones (working or non working) at the rate of £3.50 per kg.

@kitenski, they grade the stuff, and you get more the better condition it’s in, but I expect thy might turn down some stuff. They can repair stuff, so I guess it depends on how broken. You can get an idea from the website https://uk.webuy.com/site/about
If there’s something you need yourself, the part-ex/voucher rate is better then the cash rate. Take any boxes/receipts/chargers if you have them, to make you look a bit more credible

Oxfam take mobiles to recycle.
Not sure about iPads I did ask them when I dropped off a bag of phones.

@Scarlet, the CEX website is a revelation, where others were offering only a quid or so, they offer £10-30!

@gixxerniknik, I wish we had something similar here. The fact that you can just walk into a shop with a box full of old gadgets is almost zero effort as well.

There's always the option of fixing them yourself: you don't have to be particularly techie - just willing to watch a lot of "how-to" videos and give it a go.
I've cracked screens on Nexus-7 tablets, and picked up a non-working one from eBay, and swapped the intact screen over.
The OS on my current Nexus-7 (2013) was only supported by Google to Android-6 but there are independent developers (AOSP -LineageOS) who've kept up the development so I've upgraded it to a fully functional Android-11 again (looks like they're doing V12 now too)

@geoffers, I don't want/need to keep any of them.

One issue is two of them probably have personal data on them, and one of them is completely dead [dropped in water] (iPhones). One owner is deceased and the other has no idea of the password so worried about just sending those off but also thinking smashing them up to prevent data getting into the wrong hands is a bit wrong
