Poster: A snowHead

We had a week at the beginning of Feb, lovely little resort.
And I do mean little... but that wasn't really an issue, it just changed the way we did things.
My normal rule is to aim for 150+km of pistes available if we can. Ste Foy is about 40... As a snowboarded with very cold, very dry weather, we were mainly on piste and avoided the unpisted blacks. Keep clear of the flat bit of blue, and you basically cover the entire resort, with a few repeats every day. Don't go there for the mileage or big expeditions. Do go for practicing skills, with mixed ability groups, or to spend time with your friends. Or if you're booking last minute or great at predicting the future, definitely go for the in-resort off piste opportunities.
However, with a chalet just 50 yards from the piste (The absolutely gorgeously cute Chalet Milou - thoroughly recommend for 2 people) we could pop home for lunch, or even an extra top if it was colder than we expected. The furthest reaches of the resort were less than 20 minutes away from home.
And all pistes do lead to home, so that's pretty convenient. 7 people ahead of us constituted a long lift queue. It's easy to keep in touch with larger groups and meet up.
The piste prep was also very very good. We had great conditions the whole week on piste, even though it hadn't snowed for a fortnight by the end of the trip. Oh, and the lift pass is sub £30 a day.
We took a day out in Tignes too, about a 20 minute drive up the valley. That was nice. And felt huge in comparison - we went back to our exploring / sightseeing ways.
Had some great food too. Les Marquises offered up a fabulous lunch on the slopes, and 1580 has the best coffee, to go with their own microbrewery beers and some great food.
It won't suit everyone, but pick the right reasons to go, and it's a great resort.

@BigSouthernJesse, was there same time as you , had the same experience . les marquises defo the place to stop , with fresh snow the place would be amazing , its position makes it so easy to head to other resorts for a day that the size of st foy is no problem , and such great value for money too , we stayed down the hill and used the hotel la Monal as a base , great spot
