Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Noob ski rental question

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi all, brand new to skiing, tried it for 4 days in the vosges last week, had 3 private lessons and hours of practice on my own and absolutely loved every minute of it! I regret never having tried it before.
I'm going with the family to Les Saisies in February and am arranging our equipment rental. Not sure if i should reserve the intermediate or beginner kit for myself now? Not sure what difference it will make? I can ski with the skis parallel now and can (mostly Embarassed ) control my speed although a steep slope is still a very scary thing indeed wink Any advice?

You are probably best off on some good quality "beginner" skis, by which I mean not too stiff or too heavy. It is unlikely you are skiing fats or aggressively enough to need the stability a stiffer ski would give you. And better that you start to feel the progressive pressure and flex of the ski through the turn.

Concur - Go for some beginner gear, since you probably want something that doesn’t take a lot of input to control - You weight taking into consideration:-)

Have fun in Saisies - but be aware that it will be very busy, like all French resorts! Are you having more lessons?

We will be there in the absolute busiest week of the year unfortunately Evil or Very Mad but it can't be helped. No lessons reserved this time around as i will be working around family and friend constraints and can't commit to a specific time this far in advance.

@BananaBread, never too old! Good luck and hope you have a great trip! As far more knowledgeable people than I have advised, stick on the beginner planks for now!
