Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Holiday insurance to cover Italy - possibly annual.

 Poster: A snowHead

Hi,

I’m just trying to sort out some travel insurance for Italy. They have now made it compulsory to have third party liability insurance. Any recommendations? Possibly for an annual multi trip policy?

Thanks,

Mick

As far as I am aware all UK travel insurance policies cover Third Party Liability (sometimes called Personal Liability).

Would you go a Ski holiday without insurance ? -- just get a standard Winter Sports policy (weekly or yearly - your choice)

The newish Italian requirement is aimed mainly at Italians who go on holiday without any sort of insurance

You can check Allianz Travel insurance. They offer single-trip and annual multi-trip policies with various levels of coverage and benefits.

Ski Club of Great Britain membership includes a 3rd party liability insurance policy. You do not need to buy a travel insurance policy with them to benefit.

Our bank account (Nationwide Flexplus) includes Annual Worldwide travel insurance that includes winter sports and sailing and also gives Car breakdown for cars we own or if we are in someone else’s car, European Breakdown and Mobile Phone insurance - I have to pay extra due to my medical issues but given I gave 2 false hips and diabetes the extra £68 a year is nothing as we go sailing 2 weeks and skiing 2 plus ordinary summer holidays as well.

I get an annual wintersports policy from here: https://www.onlinetravelcover.com. Main selling point for me is that it includes off piste, which some others don’t.

Quote:
Where you can ski and snowboard under this policy

AXA define in the policy wording "Off Piste" as skiing or snowboarding OUTSIDE a ski resort boundary or in an area marked prohibited from entry. This means all areas WITHIN a ski resort boundary are considered "On piste"

Within Ski Resort Boundaries

You can ski and board unguided anywhere within the boundary of a ski area including marked runs, trails and off-piste areas provided you observe the resort safety guidelines and warnings.

Outside Ski Resort Boundaries

If you are venturing outside of the resort boundaries you are covered provided you are with a Guide and not skiing or boarding in an area marked prohibited from entry.

@geomickb, assuming you already / usually have travel insurance including winter sports (why wouldn’t you?), it’s a non-issue. As noted above, the rule was aimed mainly at ‘locals’ who wouldn’t normally have any ins cover for a ski trip

We use Post Office insurance. Have an annual policy including winter sports. Includes liability as I believe all policies would but offers a level of coverage they we feel comfortable with for all our holidays, skiing or otherwise.
