Poster: A snowHead
|
Hi all,
It's been a while so apologies if this is in the wrong place.
Heading to Serre Chevalier this week for the first time. Looking for recommendations, on piste and in resort.
We are staying in Briancon and will have access to a car so keen to explore the whole valley. Would be grateful for any recommendations on restaurants, bars, ski shops etc. I have my own equip, but some of our party will be renting. Boulangeries for the breakfast run are very important!
Ski-wise, experienced off-piste skier and keen to explore as much of the mountain as possible. Recommendations of guides/instructors for 1/2 day to show a few spots on and off-piste.
Thanks! Matt

@Powpirate, wow that's a big ask!
You'll be better off renting in Briancon, all the rental shops are at the bottom of the Prorel Gondola in Briancon itself.
Not too sure about boulangeries in town, but the big one up my McDonalds is good.
And above that boulangerie is a good Italian restaurant, Tiramisu we go to a lot in the InterSeason, but there are a whole load in the old town along with bars that are worth exploring, and better ambience/character.
Re guides contact Davina at Ski Connections in Villeneuve and have a chat.
I'm not a great one for restaurants on the hill, but when we do La Cabane top of Aravet lift, others to look out for stop off, Pi Mai and Peyra Juana, just google to see where they are.
And then Le Chazelay bottom of Casse de Boeuf.
On the Prorel sector (Briancon) Chalet de Serre Blanc has fantastic views, but can get a little busy.
Michelin Star restos Peche Gourmande and not Michelin but up there L'Oree Du Bois and la Table du Chazal

@Powpirate, the boulangerie opposite the Champ du Mars at the top of the old town is very good.
On the mountain, our favourite lunch stop is Echaillon (just off piste Fangeas) and Le White (at Serre Ratier). Peyra Juana over at Monetier too.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

+1 for Peyra Juana, it's a decent way to ski back to Briancon from there - so if it's a sunny day on the terrace be careful because the time slips away quickly!!
I've always liked Le Bivouac for a morning stop (top of Casse du Boeuf chair) as it's fairly central
If you're staying in Briancon make sure you get up to the old town and explore - enjoy
