Help!!
Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better!
Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Does anyone know of any resources that forecast the cloud level (altitude) in Austria? I'm pretty sure I've seen such forecasts in Chamonix, but not anywhere else

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

@viv
, without checking, the Chamonix forecasts are human driven and therefore not available everywhere. My favourite robot site meteoblue is not great at forecastsing sunshine/cloud, esp. where such forecasting is difficult, for instance Monaco is often 50/50 cloud/sunshine but that's because there's often a cloud layer over the alpes maritimes hanging behind Monaco itself.
Maybe see if there's a local forecast to where you're going? I presume you're wanting to avoid poor light?

@oui4ski
, thanks for that. At first glance it's not giving the granularity I'd want, but I'll have a play around.
I didn't know the Cham forecasts where human driven, but that makes sense why I can't find similar elsewhere.
Yes, it's about avoiding poor light. Yesterday I was skiing in Kitzbuhel, where most lifts top out around 1900m, but the cloud level was at around 1500m. If it were possible to get a reasonably precise forecast of cloud level, I'd've gone to SkiWelt where many lifts top out around 1500m
