Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Les Boisses: MMV Altaviva - opinions?

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
We are planning a trip in early March.

Seen a good offer on aparthotel MMV Altaviva, les Boisses

We like Tignes and been before. Group of adult friends, good skiers.

What is Les Boisses like?

Is there a shop there?
Worried it might be a bit remote or too quiet? Are there any bars or restaurants in the village, or do you have to go into Le Lac?
If you do go out in Le Lac in the evening, how easy is it to get back? How late does the shuttle run?

Any comments on Altaviva?

@RupertBaines, I don't think MMV Altaviva is in Les Boisses. I believe it's in Tignes 1800.

If I'm right, bruvs and his wife stayed there last year and were super happy with the accommodation and had enough on hand as regards bars and shops.

Tignes 1800 has two ski rental shops, a few bars, restaurants and cafes and a rather fine very well-stocked Spar - though a little pricey.

You also have a regular bus link to Tignes Le Lac which has more of the same. Bus runs till around 10pm.

Just one word of caution - you can only ski back to your accommodation on red runs. Skiers of a nervous disposition can download on the Boisses bubble or hop on the bus to get home.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

No. They are distinct villages.

Tignes 1800 is indeed something of a marketing creation and other than the replica church consists of poured concrete clad in timber to create rather comfortable "Residences de Tourisme".

Les Boisses is over a mile away by road and is an older established village of all kinds of trad and modern buildings.

From a skier's perspective though, it's had to see where one ends and the other begins

I walked to Les Boisses once from that cheap Mountainsun place - we were on an autumn visit and the lifts up to the Grande Motte were closed with high winds. A little group of us set of for a walk and were stunned, when we found an open bar, to be told they had no red wine. A first in France?
