Poster: A snowHead
|
Hi. This is my first post! We are a family of 2 adults and a 13 year old with flights booked to Turin 10 to 17 February 2024. We are early intermediates so like the look of Montgenevre but this will clash with zone c holiday which includes Paris, not the other zones. Should we avoid? Any one got any experience of going at this time? Also can anyone recommend good value accommodation. Le Napoleon is too expensive for us.
Thanks all

Montgenèvre was a good resort in many ways. Relatively low cost of living in resort, high altitude, but lots of slow old lifts. However the lift pass was a lot less than other areas. About £750 for 4 people for 6 days. We made good use of the swimming pool spa, Durancia, and took a public bus to Briancon with the old town. The luge is good fun.
We were in half term this year and the queues were generally manageable

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

If you are flying to Turin, at half term, probably makes sense to go to one of the Italian resorts, which should be less busy. And welcome to SHs.

We did Champoluc one Feb half term, found it pretty quiet in comparison to other places we have tried for half term

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Thanks all. Which Italian resort would you recommend? We have only been to Passo Tonale before. I would like easy blues and very easy reds ideally. Ski in and ski out would be amazing and good value accommodation and ski passes, short transfer, some good restaurants in resort. Does such a resort exist?

When you say "short transfer", would you be renting a car? Probably the best, with 3 of you. Or bus? Or a private taxi transfer? You could look at Pila or La Thuile. On the whole Italian reds are wide, very well groomed, and not intimidating. If you have lessons your instructors will find the best place for you.

Sauze d'oulx or Sestriere nice short transfers and good value.Maybe slightly tougher skiing than Montgenevre though. But you can have them all on the one ski pass.
