Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Zell am See with family: morning ski lessons for kids?

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi folks. Going to Zell am See in a month with two smallies 4 & 6.

They've never skied before. I'm looking for ski school but the only options seem to be morning *and* afternoon. My wife would ideally like them in ski school morning only. Does anyone happen to know if there are any morning-only options there for kids that young?

Thanks,
dingbat

Hi Dingbat.

I've not been to Zell, but have been to a resort just down the road, where you also book morning and afternoon lessons. We found the ski schools to be flexible about children missing a session. Both of mine have missed the occasional morning session and joined after lunch, and there were children in their groups that would be collected by parents at lunchtime and not return for the afternoon session.

We found the ski schools charged the sake for 4, 5 and 6 days of lessons, so we didn't feel that we were losing money by them missing occasional mornings.

I'd suggest booking in for the full day (you meet them for lunch anyway) and enjoy the flexibility of having the option of them attending in the afternoon. You may find that one or both are keen to carry on with their group after lunch.

Same, we booked whole days in Kaltenbach but sometimes our daughter pulled out at lunchtimes, when we met up, depending on energy levels. Worked ok.
