Hi all
Could anyone recommend a ski hire shop in Tignes le lac?
Thanks in advance.

If you are prepared to get on the ski bus:
1. Tignes Spirit has a good reputation
2. I have hired from Deep Snow in Val Claret (beside The Diva Hotel) and got very decent kit.
I was in Mountain Story (Near the Palafour Lift) getting skis waxed in Jan - and they appeared to have a decent selection.
BTW Welcome to the mayhem.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

We always use Duch Sports via Skimium when in Tignes le Lac. Always been good.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

In Lac, the two that have the best selection are - as mentioned above, Mountain Story and Duch.
Both are at the bottom of Rue de La Poste.
If you want the flipside, Intersport are and always have been absolute garbage !

I've never used Intersport for that very reason!

"Rickster"
Hi, just returned from Le Lac myself. I've used Mountain Story twice in the last two years consecutively. Booked before arriving in resort, with a good discount. Great skis and comfortable new boots. They know their stuff in there. Good luck

Ski Republic's online prices are generally excellent. They are effectively a broker, using various hire shops throughout Tignes. Just click on your desired location on the website.

My view on Ski Republic is based on one ski shop (beside The Diva) and hiring for my 2 teenage Sons several years ago....so may or may not be representative.
The Good: The prices were very attractive and the Staff were helpful
The Bad: The kit was worn and scruffy.
The following year, myself and Daughter hired from the Deep Snow Ski Set shop next door (through Crystal who had a very attractive offer on)...and while the prices were more expensive, the Skis were very new (and in the case of my Daughter, brand new). I had Head Magnums and my Daughter had some decent Nordicas.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

Thanks again.
Think I've narrowed it down between Duch sports & Mountain sports.
I've rented Head Magnums in the past & loved them. When asked in store on my ability, I'm in the "Well I can get down most things"

@Rickster, I loved the Head Magnums. Forgiving, Fun and with decent performance headroom.

As mentioned, Ski Republic bookings can be for a number of outlets in Tignes. One of our bookings with them (at least a couple of years ago) was for kit from Deep Snow We normally take our own skis, but hiring can work out cheaper than ski carriage for shorter trips. We've never had any issues with Ski Republic skis.

Otherwise you'll just go on seeing the one name:

Son is working in Tignes Spirit so a little biased. However, they do have excellent skis and the kit is new and well looked after.
