Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better!
Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Hi All,
I have quite a bit of pain in the left knee on the side and above the kneecap. My physio says I have
The left knee is: Tendinopathy of the left quadriceps tendon with patellar fat pad irritation
I did have the same sort of issues about 5 years ago after my ankle operation as having that fixed caused my knee to be unhappy it was in a new position after a decade of fudging things
I saw Simon Ball at Fortius then who steroid injected me, which took about 2/3 weeks to settle down and lasted about 5 months and I was ok then as I did exercises to strengthen and fix.
I could go and see Simon again but it’s £350 for appt, £400 for ultrasound and then £795 for ultrasound guided injection into the knee and I don’t want to go through that 2-3 weeks of pain again.
Any views on whether I could manage this through physio and pain meds and a brace for a couple of months.
Driving aggravates it even though it’s not a leg I use as I drive a semi automatic and I need to drive for 50 mins twice a day, most days.

I should say I’ve tried shockwave therapy (6 sessions) and that’s helped a bit and allowed me to ski and had some tissue/fascia release about 4 sessions but it has come back.
I use a small ball to release outside and inside of both thighs most days when I get to bed and a theragun on the back and front of thighs every other day.
Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I would manage the vast majority of these with physio alone.
Although injections may have a temporary effect you need to address the underlying causes.
