Anybody any idea how busy Geneva Airport is likely to be early Friday morning (23rd Dec) for departures? Our departure time is an ungodly 06:30. I am hoping this may lead yo a quieter experience....
Last time we came through was a Saturday end of half term week.
Any experience or anywhere I can look to find out?

Its going to be pretty horrendous on that day but the timing might work in your favour. Have a look at how many other flights are departing at the same time on their website- theres always the (paid for) fast track option.

Which is what is behind my question we did that for Feb half term, but then wondered with the time of day whether it was overkill.

@NickyJ, have a look at the flights and make a call- we are flying on 23/12 but from Zurich which is a lot more efficient than GVA. Its going to be one of the busiest flying days.

I didn’t even know there was a fast track option at GVA! How much is it? And how do you book it?

It’s also included if you have Easyjet Plus - which (if you prefer to book a seat and have the option for a larger bag) is becoming more logical - I paid £40 for a front row seat with a large cabin bag for my daughter the other day - and they’re £49.99 on the evening flight back we’re booked on on 5 Feb. With fast-track security included at Manchester (£5) and GVA (CHF10) you’re looking at only 3 return trips a year and you’re in the money - sometimes 2 trips if seats are £50 a shot.
I know front seats aren’t for everyone but as we never have hold bags the ability to get off quickly and to passports/car hire (and the same on return) is worth a few bob to us - and certainly with 8-10 return trips a year £215 for EJ Plus makes a lot of sense.

@andy from embsay, really? I thought that only gave speedy bag drop and priority boarding? Not fast track in security?

@NickyJ, Not all airports, but Manchester and Geneva (which is where we fly 90% of the time). But the real benefit is to book any seat on the plane for free. 46 airports with fast track.

@andy from embsay, ah I was getting confused with the more expensive seats thing. How much does it cost? Struggling tofind that in the details. Notice can't do it for the kids which is a shame

£215 a year, partner card (limited to one) is £185. So with seats at anything up to £50 each way and free fast track it’s worth it if you travel with EJ a lot (and we do).

You know it makes sense.

@andy from embsay, thanks and workjny through can add kids ones just they cant hold card themselves. Good to know, suspect wont work out for us, but might have been with careful planning.... this season one set of flights is easyjet the other is Lufthansa. Next season looking at Ryanair and doing just the 1 week at dreaded Feb half term due to A-levels

@NickyJ, I’ve pondered getting eldest child (she’s 22) the partner card (Mrs AfE doesn’t do aeroplanes) but she has a tendency to use EJ for skiing a couple of times a year then Jet2 for summer hols so marginal for her - whereas I tend to do Morzine for skiing and then biking in the summer so obvious for me, marginal for child.

We are landing at Geneva on the 23rd at 9am. Fully prepared for a degree of carnage.

I came home from Geneva on the evening of Friday 23rd 6 (or was it 7?) years ago. Just me and the kids skiing. Everyone leaving for Christmas at the end of the last working week. Arrived three hours early. Complete carnage at the Easyjet check in desks (onlf half manned)-after 2 hours, we got called out of the queue. Security queue all the way down the escalator; we had to beg our way in where the queue splits to get through in time and make our flight-people very accommodating but it helped having a 7 year old in tears thinking she wouldn't get home for Christmas.
Never again. Until this year when we are flying back at the same time on a Tour Operator flight. BA so hopefully less of a check in queue than EJ. We'll see....

Schools break up on the Friday so I imagine it could well be very busy, but GVA is a bit of an enigma in that it can be dead quiet or super busy with no rational reason why (except during the ski season when every Saturday is mayhem)

easyJet bag drop tends to be busy for the first wave of flights, and it spills over to security too. GVA has new more efficient scanners which made security quite sensible over the summer (max 30 min in this morning peak). easyJet had like 12-13 flights departing between 6 and 7 am.

Thanks all. I had already purchased seats wth priority bag drop to play safe (plus they didnt cost much extra on returb leg but loads extra on outbound leg weirdly). I have plumped for fast track through security to play safe. With and autistic child with us having the quieter line makes a difference, if there is any danger of huge scrums

Just thought I would feedback.
Most airport was pretty quiet but could see huge queue for airport security when we were walking in at 4:10 for our 6:30 flight. We walk towards EasyJet end (desks 1-17) get to desk 60 and hit a long queue. Sent hubby on while waiting in it and got confirmation it was the queue to get to EasyJet desks! He had tried to ask if samw que for priority bag drop and he allegedly couldn't get sensible answer. We stopped still for a good while, the queue behind going further and further back. Security and police come along. Presumebly insisted EasyJet staff sort it out as was probaly length of checkin building by this point! We then start moving at least. When we got to the gate keeper of the queues we were then allowed to join priority bag drop - I had sympathy for the massive snake then others were diverted into (the glares as we walked past of desks with skis to get to oversize of people who thouhgt we were queue jumping!).
Glad we paid for fast track on security as meant we had time to sit for a coffee before going to gate (amazingly no queue to get passports stamped on way) and was called to board almost as soon as got to gate.
Flight home wasn't full. Advantage of coming back friday. Think that is the first school holiday flight we have done which hasn't been full.
