Has anyone got a view on whether the Prizm Persimmon matches the performance of the Hi Pink?
- Is this just a matter of catering to people who prefer an Orange based lens?
- I thought, possibly wrongly, that Prizm was based on a Rose lens, as being best for Snow.
- I take it, that applying Prizm technology to the Persimmon lens, makes it considerably better than the standard one.....It certainly gives it a lower VLT (43 vs 62).

In the same direction, I've just been reading the above. It offers something of a reasonable description in their materials etc, albeit wrapped in PR double-speak.
From your question, you may find the largest preferred choice difference for males affected or not by degree of colour blindness as to which one is observed most effective for them as it's right in that area of response.

Which of the two colours is likely to be better if you are colour blind (which I am not)?
I prefer the Prizm Rose to the old Persimmon - but I have no idea how much of that is down to the Prizm, or the Rose tint ie. I'm wondering (only theoretically) whether Prizm Persimmon is a cheaper way to get Hi Pink performance.
It's probably too new to get practical feedback......but this thread may help people with their decisions in the future, as and when more insight is posted.

A projected guess but it would appear that with red colour blindness the persimmon choice could hold advantage.
That's on the basis that the persimmon would spread the response over more cones in the eye, and so give a better "read" of scene perception than predominantly more of a red lens. Comment from someone more specialised in the eye may yeald better interpretation here.
I'm the same as you with no colour deficiency, for a long time I've used "rose" tint as general purpose one lens goggle. Mine are older Adidas with a mirror outer surface.

Q for the opthalmatists out there. I've found a Hi Pink style goggle (actually a Dragon Lumalens) has become my daily driver. Given the higher VLT am I risking eye damage in sunny periods given I also wear contacts which act as a further barrier or is it simply a matter of strain?

As I understand it, Snow Blindness/Damage is caused by UV rays, which the Lens should block out (UVA/B/C)....so if it doesn't give you a headache, you should be fine......but I'm open to correction from somebody qualified.

If you go to section "sunglasses that protect from UV" in the above link it specifically references UV protection in relation to tint / density of lens.
My references are more related to camera filters. A UV filter is essentially plain glass (good quality are multicoated for reflection etc) but they do effectively screen UV with completely clear composition. They are needed as originally film responded to UV, and so became visible in the resulting image. As far as I'm aware digital chips also respond to UV & IR so still have to be screened.

@Dave of the Marmottes, Not all lenses block all types of UV - and Glasses, unlike Goggles, don't seal around the eyes, unless their design blocks all light from getting in around the edges.

Currently pondering the same question myself at the moment. I'm running Prizm Torch at the moment on my Flight Decks which do me for most conditions. In real sunlight I swap to my sunnies. Looking for an out and out flat light lens for the worst of days.
Done a bit of reading about the Prizm Hi-Pink vs the Prizm Persimmon. The only real difference from what I've seen is down to preference of colour. Whether you are more suited to the slight rose tint of the newer prizm stuff or if you prefer the orange. Both perform very similarly.
I'm going to plum for the Hi-Pink I think as I'm used to the tint from running the Torch.

That's a shame....We need a Guinea Pig on here for the Prizm Cinnamon.
Are you sure you won't "Take one for the Team"?

After much research over the summer, I have ordered a Prizm Persimmon lens and a Prizm Torch Iridium lens, the combination which I hope will cover most situations....
I’ll report back at the end of January!

This will be an interesting comparison. I have the Prizm Torch and have just picked up the Hi-pink! The way it's looking at the moment however, I'll be in the sunnies every day!

hey guys, were you able to test the Persimmon or the HI Pink? I also have a Torch, and I am completely undecided on which low-light lense to buy!
Lots of Reddit posts indicate that the HI Pink are super versatile, but some reviewers say the Persimmon offers more contrasts, seeing better the slopes...

I hope you get an answer.
I suspect it will come down to personal preference ie. Do you prefer a yellowy/orangey lens or a Pinky one.
I would expect the Prizm Persimmon to be more comfortable if the sun comes out.
The performance is likely to be very similar - which IIRC is what Sport Rx found.

I can't compare as I've never worn the Persimmon. But the Hi-Pink has given me superb contrast and vision on all but the most white out of days...and if it's like that then no lens is going to help! They are great. I use the Torch for probably 75% of everything. Flat light and the Hi-Pink goes on. Bluebird and I swap over to my Iridium black sunnies.
I really rate the Prizm range.

I was at ISPO for the Prizm launch all those years ago, and have to say, I find them a bit disappointing, especially in low light. All Oakley lenses I've had (including various Prizm options) are excellent, but my favourites remain the hi-yellow...
