 Poster: A snowHead

Heading to PDS on 26/12 (subject to Border Force issues). Got a couple of newbies wanting lessons. We will head up Ardent to Lindarets as a starting point. Do not really want to be escorting newbies too far. I know ESF have a school based in the Lindarets Bowl but the availability for private lessons is not the best.
Any other suggestions?

Private lesson for 2 newbies. Been on snow dome for lessons, never on a mountain.

Are you after ski school or private lessons?
If it's ski school then the Avoriaz meet point is normally at the top of town by the Welcome Centre, so just down off the ridge. Not too hard to get them up the bubble and walk them across the snow onto the Lindarets chair. From the top they can de-ski and walk/bum slide down to the ski school meet ara the first day/snowplow the rest of the week.
If it's private then the normal meet is the EFS office, which is down the Prodains end of town so less convienient so maybe less of an option.

Hey Mike, I can sympathise you wanting to ditch your newbies asap (bless them  ). I've only ever heard good things about the little ESF in Montriond (Linderets), and it's a lovely bunny hill if they have the capacity to offer what you want (if you're open to group lessons they may have more options?). Otherwise most of the brit independents would I'm sure try to make a Linderets rdv if it fits for them, try Avoriaz Alpine, Bass, LGS, Billski, Supreme, New Gen, etc. Ian McKellar at Avoriaz Alpine is best placed to help you out I would think.

ESF might run ‘prestige’ classes that week (smaller group numbers) that might suit your requirements.
It’s a busy week so you might not end up with any lessons. (Hope you do).
You might have to take what you can find.

That's a very busy week to be trying to book last minute ski lessons. Get what you can, ASAP. If they've never got on and off a chairlift, it's probably best to leave that adventure to an instructor.

I enquired weeks ago and was told to get in touch just before as they did not know schedules for groups etc. Now they say they are limited on space. Jeez!
I am strongly suggesting the newbies get lessons! They may get a fun intro to skiing and I am not inclined to spend a week holding their hands. I have 4 kids to blast around with.

You obviously can't insist if they're adults, but you're quite right. A mountain can be very different from a snowdome - unless they're very over-confident types I would have thought they'd be keen to get lessons, close to wherever you're staying, as getting to and from lessons without hand-holding will be easier that way. Definitely no "skis on" lifts of any kind between your accommodation and the lesson meeting place. A gondola would obviously be OK, though even that, if it's busy and pushy and shovey (which it will be at New Year) can be a bit of a challenge.
You do need to make it clear you're not up for hand-holding. Then it's up to them. I'd leave them to arrange themselves, or it'll be all your fault if it's wrong.

@Mike_H, it really is very straight forward to get to Avoriaz ski school meeting point. If they can manage a controlled snowplough in a snow dome the skiing element will not be too challenging. Up the Ardent gondola to Lindarets, across on the flat to the Lindarets chair (don’t take Prolays by mistake) and a very gentle ski down to the ski school meeting point.
It would be no hardship to start your day by going the same route, at least on day one. If they can manage the chair (tip off the lifties that they are inexperienced and carry their poles for them) it is straight forward.
