I generally ski in April but have a Dec and hopefully a Jan trip and I do feel the cold, even with 3 Merino long sleeve layers I was very chilly over New Year a few years back.
hence after a full length zip fleece, without a hood as a mid layer - trying to compare 2 from Montane
https://montane.com/products/montane-mens-protium-xt-fleece-jacket
vs
https://montane.com/products/montane-mens-protium-fleece-jacket
On their comparison tool they are pretty similiar, so wondering if anyone has used either one?
Weight is 395g vs 385g
The XT says it is Thermo Grid HL brushed back fleece with stretch whereas the other is THERMO GRID fleece
The XT is said to be Mid weight warmth - Warm versatile performance across seasons & activities whilst the other says Light weight warmth - For fast moving & high output activities in cold conditions, but there is only 10g difference in the weight!
Then just comparing against an Arcteryx one that is 265g! https://arcteryx.com/gb/en/shop/mens/delta-lt-jacket

I am sour on Montane right now ...
I was getting their Anti-Freeze ski mitts a few weeks back ... only 4.2 ounces
list price, all in cart but then ... shipping was ... wait ...
$35.00 USD ...
... it is LITERALLY 1/4 of a pound ! ... and shipping from Seattle to western Colorado
so, I got very nice Leki ski mitts instead ...
best of luck, but jus' my anecdotal experience x 1 with them/their webstore ... prolly not typical hopefully.

Are you wearing a jacket on top of that lot?
If so, either do more short turns (lazy!) or eat more pies. I recommend Cornish pasties, shepherd’s pie or lasagna (Italian pie).

@under a new name, I do have on of those, I've gone with a thin Polartec fleece (Allez Micro Fleece Pull-On) and will also take the Atom with me, esp with this cold snap looking likely!
@AL9000, yes I did.

@kitenski, Buy both and keep one for cold days, and another for very cold days Youve taken the concept of layering to another level there, 3 base layers, a mid layer and an outer.

@Markymark29, If skiing off piste or moguls I'd be warmer as skiing pistes doesn't really use any energy so doesn't generate much heat!! When I was cold over New Year I ended up skating up hill and doing loads of short turns to try and generate heat!!
