Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

One of those days that you’re not expecting! 20-30cm of fresh on Friday and a few more flakes on a mainly cloudy Saturday left us hoping for a few remaining decent stashes on a bluebird Sunday.

Cold but glorious views first thing!


Millsy’s first freeride day of the season so went for a warm up lap on the Lac des Vaux ridge

Went for another lap on the far side and ended up a bit too low so sacked off trying to break a trail back to the lift and headed for the Col des Mines itinerary. Still closed but there was a single track we could follow to avoid having to break trail which sealed the deal. Whoever had made the track had gone to Vallon d’Arbi so we had a powder field to ourselves and it didn’t suck!

Called the boy who is rapidly approaching his teens and was left behind in bed in the morning. Fortunately the pull of the powder is strong in this one. He joined us for lap 2

The others were hungry but I’d seen a track in one of the Attelas couloirs and with the snow more stable than expected fancied a crack. The boy came to look after me.
The access is tricky but both the kids are solid in steep terrain

The couloir is narrow and quite rocky at the top so we took it carefully. Then it opens out

Pretty quick with the 360 Max non? I try to keep them to less than a minute. A couple of mins to download the vids, a bit of view adjustment on the good ones to get a few different angles, crop beginning and end, a couple of mins to render them and then upload to IG or YT.

It’s still a mid Dec base but the 30cm on top was perfect quality, blower powder. Particularly on the shaded slopes protected from the wind. You can count on one hand the days like that during the season

I can't watch the 360 videos, they make my eyes hurt, almost like a motion sickness.
