Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Skiing with 9 month old… ideal resort? (he won’t be skiing to be clear)

Wife and I are proud new parents who are determined to continue exploring with our little dude. We’re looking to go on a Euro trip in early March and want to ski for a week… it’ll likely just be the two of us and our son. We’re both intermediate skiers but also avid travelers. In an ideal world, we find a balance of a ski resort that will hold our attention for a week and a village we can roam around in and enjoy the European vibe. Accommodations would need to be ski in ski out so one of us can get some laps in while the other hangs out with the kiddo, little coffee shop, beverage, etc, rinse and repeat. Italy and Austria appear to be the best budget options, certainly don’t need to ski Switzerland yet since skiing isn’t the 100% focus here. I’ve read a ton of good reviews on Kuhtai (seems a bit small), Lech (pricier), Kitzbuehel (not sure about snow in March), Cervinia, Alta Badia, etc.

I’ve done a lot of research but every good review includes a bad. Looking for an ideal ski town with good skiing, not the best skiing with an okay town. Would love opinions!

Ski Amade gives you loads of choice and does a 2 Parent Pass for those with little ones. In other words, one lft pass for the two of you. I'd go Flachau as a base (there's a reason I live here). Plus a 45 min transfer from Salzburg is a Godsend with infants.

Kuhtai can be a bit bleak if the weather comes in and isn't really a "village" as you imagine it. Lech, correct, pricey but definately a village and Kitzbuhel ticks the same boxes as here. I'd say Zell am See too, but not so easy to find ski-in ski-out.

Flachau's shared ski pass sounds ideal. And it'll be FAR easier to take your lad at 9 months than for the next couple of years.

At 9 months we employed the parents and did the 3 valleys (well connected so could zip back if needed). At 2.5 years after a lot of searching we going to Puy St Vincent with snowbizz. Who are a British run company specialising in childcare. Lot of people recommend ski esprit but that was too big a leap for us.

We like Les Gets for family friendly. Our child came on his first ski holiday at 9 months too. Les Gets has a nice town centre with a little train you can go round the village on, a carousel, two cable cars you can take a little one up to restaurants in and some nice snowy walking areas where you can hire a toboggan pram and take them for a push in the scenery. He is 5 now and looking forward to skiing this season already!

Where are you traveling from/where do you want to fly or drive into? That might help narrow it down. Do you want to rent a car or stick to trains? Quite a few places have childcare or can arrange for babysitting services which is ideal in my mind.

I was thinking Kitzbühel, until you said ski in ski out. Snow in March is no problem at all (normally depths peak in early March), but while there's plenty of accommodation next to lifts I don't think there's much ski out at all. The town itself will tick all your boxes all, and actually has 'European vibes'.

Kühtai has no village; it's just hotels and a shop. It has plenty of 'ski in' accommodation but I think the Alpenrose is the only pace that's 'ski out' (and then only ~100m vert to the lift).

Lech is really nice, and obviously the skiing is great and snow record one of the best in the Alps. But while the village is lovely, there's definitely less going on than in Kitz.

Chamonix would also tick your town/village boxes, but the skiing is probably even less convenient to meet up/swap over...

TBH I'm struggling to come up with anywhere with plentiful ski in/out accommodation that's also an interesting town/village with euro vibes - normally the former = built for skiing which generally rules out the latter.
