Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Vipec heel unwinding

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Last season I noticed an interesting new feature on my Vipec bindings. While skiing the length adjust in the heel gradually unwinds. Last time I used them I noticed a few times that the pins were barely engaging my boot and I had to constantly be checking and adjusting them, which is a bit off putting.

Anyone else had/heard of this issue and know if there's a fix?

Never had this issue, but in principle there are various makes and types of thread locking compound, aka Studlock, which are designed to lock a screw thread into place, while allowing it to be easily unscrewed when needed. Research needed as to which of them would be suitable for low temperatures etc.

Had the same thought, but basically there's nowhere to really apply threadlock in a way that would be likely to work. The length screw fits loosely into a plastic housing, so there isn't a snug enough interface for threadlock to do it's job.

I did try wrapping a bit of gaffer tape round the screw to take up some of the play which possibly made things marginally better

If you can totally remove and access the thread you might try putting a nut, or two to really lock in place, on one or both sides of the housing.

@neil neil orange peel, have you contacted Fritschi? Sounds like a fault of some kind.

Had a quick check on the fritschi website, looks like the warranty is only three years. Not sure how long I've had them now but it'd be more like 5. The first time it happened was probably within the warranty period so serves me right for not sorting it then and leaving until it got too bad to really use them (in my defense I didn't ski much for a couple of years before last season due to injury so it wasn't on my mind)

Any idea how often this happens? If I'm replacing them I'm kinda tempted to go for the same again. The skis have quiver killers in so easy to swap. There's always the tecton too but they're a little heavier.
