Looking for opinions on fugen and is it suitable for 4 guys travelling for a week in January. Would like somewhere with a bit of life after a day's skiing.

probably better off up the road in Mayrhofen if you want somewhere with "a bit of life". Fugens a pretty small place. Better options from Mayerhofen on the ski front as well, easy to get to Zillertal arena and Hintertux.

I'd say the skiing is better down that end of the valley but the boozing is better at the hoff end.

Thanks for the feedback. Have stayed in Mayerhofen before so looking for somewhere different on Austria . Fugen sounds a bit 2 quiet for us hence the cheaper accommodation prices. Will keep looking.

you could stay in fugen, and ski in kaltenbach down the road, i did this a few years ago and there were a few apres bars at the bottom of the slopes. public transport between the resorts is pretty good.

@Chick, how about Schladming or Obertauern? Both have a bit of life after the lifts close.
