Poster: A snowHead

Does anyone know what is the difference between Atomic's X12 and X14 bindings ?
The most popular skis like S9/G9/X9 are offered in both bindings, but on their website I only found info about the X14: https://www.atomic.com/en-nl/shop-emea/product/x-14-gw-ad5001970.html
X14 has a DIN range from 6-14... would this be the only difference from X12(4-12) or is there more to it?
Cheers

Two.
Generally that's it; the higher numbered one just has stronger springs, and sometimes some of the internal components may be chunkier as well, and therefore ever so slightly heavier, but that's pretty much all there is to it, yes. If you're not a competitive skier, and a big one at that, you're never going to have your DIN settings anyway near that high, so there's no advantage to be gained.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

2...and a few £s.
is it worth the extra cash for the extra "din"? only if your a heavyweight racer, for us mere mortals we will never use the higher settings. I'm a heavy, 110kg, advanced skier who skis the whole mountain and normally use a din of 8 so unless you have a specific need I'd say save the cash.....put it towards something nice!

@Chaletbeauroc, @andy'n'netty, if the only difference is the higher DIN, definitely not worth it the extra money, usually I keep my DIN between 7 and 8.
Thanks guys!

Slightly different binding, but when Spyderjon put a set of Salomon shifts on some powder skis, he recommended getting the binding that means i'm not at an extreme of the DIN range.
So if you're at a 7 or 8 then the X12 would suit you more anyway, plus it's cheaper.
