Poster: A snowHead

we are planning to go to Val D over the Xmas break.
Can anyone recommend hotels in the 3/4 * category.
Criteria in decreasing order of priority being:
1. shortest distance to children's ski school drop off pt
2. indoor pool/spa
3. price
we would prefer it if the hotel allows us to do Half-board only - so we
can try various restaurants in the village.
Thanx in advance for all the help

I'm sure plenty of people in this forum will recommend Hotels in Val d'isere but if you do look at a Chalet holiday as opposed to Hotel I can recommend www.yseski.co.uk as a really first class operation. They fly their own charter on a Sunday (not the usuual Saturday so quicker cleaner transfer) and have about twenty of their own chalets with top class staff and really personal service - I think some with spa's and most well placed for the centre.

Just use U's wonderful new resorts info in the snowBase section of this forum. We have the technology right here on the board. Try the new menu on the RHS of the mountain view on the top of all the forum pages. 592 resorts already in there and growing steadily. (TKS mainly to PG during his self-imposed exile from contact with cocky French footy fans.)
Here it is
info@valdisere.com
And the official resort website converted to a link but taken also from U's great new feature http://valdisere.com/gb/index-gb.php
Sorry I've no 1st hand knowledge of VdI hotels but I'm sure some snowHeads will come up with the goods, mrpow.

You might try the Blizzard - it is about as central as you can get - the entrance is on the main street and the back of the hotel is only a very short walk to the nursery slopes.
The pool is outdoor, but you get to it by swimming along a tunnel from inside the hotel.
The hotel used to be very popular (it is a while since I have been in Val) but if it still has a good reputation, you will need to act quickly to get a room at Christmas.

And one more time, from U's vorchsprung durch technique, 2 millisecs got the Blizzard web site. 4* and looks good. And will do HB or even B&B. A combination of a personal recommendation from Clive and U's database come up trumps. Have a good Xmas mrpow

The Blizzard is meant to be excellent. Not sure how it will measure on the price criteria though, it wil be far from reasonable!!!
There are some really nice places up at the top end of the village up towards Le Fornet and Le Laissinant, but a little bit more secluded. Can ski into village easily.
Enjoy, but remember that Christmas is difficult this year as Christmas Day is on a Saturday so you may have to have longer/shorter stay.
The Val d'Isere website is good and will help you find 4* hotels or decents chalets etc.

Mrpow,
I have stayed at the Christiania two times, and both times I found the experience to be very very good. The food is excellent, and the hotel is close to the lifts. Both times I booked it through Inghams although you might find a better deal elsewhere this year. Public rooms are very nice. I'd say it is the nicest hotel in town. We opted for the half board plan and would do it again.
Another option is the Latitudes, although I think the Christiania will be the better hotel.
