They say that with supply chain issues (who knew everything was made in the Ukraine?) they want to focus on developing markets. They also blame Brexit hassles.

Hi there was a message sent to suppliers. Rollerski.co.uk announced the news on their facebook. It will affect the few nordic shops but it should still be possible to buy online from Yurope. A lot of the low/mid end kit was made in the Ukraine though.

Not much....
There is a small x-country scene in Aviemore where locals have a machine to cut tracks around Loch Morlich. Also Huntly has an active club in Clashindaroch Forrest (where Andrew Musgrave is from). Apart from that it's not really a thing beyond folk going round golf courses on old 3 pin Tele gear.
Fundamental problem is that low lying forest snow is often short lived.

@Haggis_Trap, that's what I thought. Got taken out for a day in the 80s by the Carrbridge lot. Wasn't inspired

Doesn't sound like it was a tricky marketing decision.

Some of the decent alpine stuff is too. I spoke to the marketing director of one of the major players recently, and was told that while the factory itself was safe enough much of their workforce had left to “go to war”.
Quite a crazy reality to wrap our heads around, sitting comfortably over here…

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

Salomon Nordic were good supporters of fledgling XC racing in the UK. I was sponsored by them way back in the 80s and we had some tremendous on-snow races in Scotland and roller races all over the UK. Eric Davies was ever-present in his Salomon Sarb.

But if they’re skiing in Europe, they can buy their skiing equipments in Europe.
No Brexit here in New York City. But there’s no nordic shop here for the 10 million residents, some of whom goes Nordic skiing all over the northeast United State. The nearest nordic shop is an hour away, on the bottom of the mountain range that has about 10-20 days of nordic season each winter.
Of the entire northeast US, there’re probably at most 10 shops that sells nordic gear. None of them are located at where people live. They’re mostly located near where people go nordic ski!
