Poster: A snowHead
|
Hi all
Daughter arrived in Vancouver earlier today to spend the season in Whistler working. She had planned to spend today and tomorrow in Vancouver then head up to Whistler on Monday. She will need to get her SIN number but the office in Whistler is only open on a Wednesday whereas the office in Vancouver is open Mon-Fri. Should she stay on an extra day in Vancouver to sort it out or just go to Whistler as planned. She's due to start working on 20th November or thereabouts but she reckons Whistler will be absolutely mobbed.
What say you snowheads?

Social insurance number. She can go ahead up to Whistler, but if she's wanting paid, she'll likely need it.

@boabski, I know the question has been answered as she on her way. She'll be fine, as according to my son, Whistler is pretty quiet at the moment.
Hope she managed to find some accommodation.

@knackered knees, all sorted till end of February thankfully. It was very difficult to get a room. We found it horrendous trying to get 2 weeks in a hotel in January too

You know it makes sense.

@boabski, Good news for your daughter.
KK junior said there was an article in the local news that seasonnaire accommodation was in short supply due to a couple of reasons. Vancouverians moving to the mountains and working from home and more properties let for Air Bnb as it's more profitable than a seasonnaire rent. KK jnr has been fortunate as the restaurant he works for provides accommodation, but a few of his friends who have been hoping to go to Whistler have changed plans and are heading to places like Big White, as whilst they can get a job in Whistler, they can't find a place to live.

@knackered knees, apparently a lot of Aussies are taking up the accommodation given they've been locked down longer than most, so are making up for lost time - more so for January compared to other months.
