Anyone know of any?
Taking a group out there at New Year and they have mainly skied a resort on Austria that had a couple of 'tricky' t-bars and would like to take them on a trip down memory lane

As far as I'm aware there are no T-Bars in the 3 Vallees but there were a few Pomas still in Courchevel 1650 last time I went in March 2020. I think the ones above Meribel have been replaced by chairlifts.

@garfy1971, there are a couple on the glacier at Les Deux-Alpes and some in Wengen but none that I recall in 3V.

There certainly were 20 odd years ago when I was last there. Won't it say on the lift pass info ?

T-bars are an Austrian thing (mainly) - I don't recall seeing any in France...
But, there is always the exception - As Hells Bells says - Les Deux Alpes has some (7 according to Ski-resort info)

Top of the Glacier (if it's still there next season!) in Val Diz has two T bars. Perhaps an awayday trip from 3V to sample the delights, then down to The Eidelweiss for lunch.

Those J bars look like button lifts with a slight curve on the pole. Button lifts in my book.

@DJL, @garfy1971 was after T-bars which are a slightly different torture than pomas or just poma like platters on a t-bar type pulley

@albob, oh there were definitely quite a few in France.
From observation they seem popular on glaciers - possibly as much “lighter” infrastructure .

You know it makes sense.

I'd be careful using them. Not as strong as advertised

Not just lighter - it's not possible to build permanent structures on glaciers, so chair or cabin lifts can only be built where there are sufficient rock outcrops. So drag lifts are absolutely the norm, and the T-bar solution simply gives twice as much uplift capacity as a single button per pole.
Yes, there certainly used to be quite a few in France but as resorts are developed they're mostly being replaced, notwithstanding the few that may remain on glaciers. Here in CH there are still very common, locally there are four or five in the Champoussin area that I can recall

Thanks, I've suffered the Deux Alpes ones many a time
Look like I might just have to suggest there for next year's trip
Thanks all for your suggestions, looks like they'll get away with T-bar torture this time around
