Poster: A snowHead

Hi Guys
Can anyone tell me which part of Obertauern village is the best part to stay for easy access to the lifts as there seems to be two separate areas; the village centre and one a bit further West?
I'll be there one my own, probably half board for 3 nights, 4 days in December. I'll like to have a beer after a long day on the slopes too
Or does it not really matter?

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

I was there just over 20 years ago and stayed at the Hotel Marietta, which IIRC had a decent location for both skiing and the town centre.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

@Gaz_H, I find the whole place a bit bleak but if you're self-catering then nearer the Spar is a better option. For hotel stays the Eastern end is a bit more modern and has better Bars (IMHO). Both have similar lift access and there are two circuits that run Clockwise or Anti-Clockwise which any competant skier can knock off in a Morning. No real difference between lift access.

Most hotels are close to the slopes
We have used this hotel over the years

Usually great snow but exposed if it's stormy

@RedandWhiteFlachau, Never been but I get what you mean about Bleak. As we mentioned on that other thread its the only place open on the 11th Dec in that area - I would much rather and try Flachau but its not open

I had a weekend there in January, we stayed in between the Spar and Intersport in 'Appartementhaus Christophorus'. The first lift of the day is a 1-minute walk behind the property, with plenty of bars & restaurants opposite.
We had a brilliant weekend, coinciding with the lifting of the Apres ban, so it was a little Bananas!!

The main village area on Romerstrasser works best for me Anywhere between the Romerhof to the spar, otherwise you star going too low. All have easy access to and from the slopes, and night life if you desire.
