Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Munich Airport Terminal 2

Poster: A snowHead
For those that know Terminal 2 Munich. We flew in there recently and booked private transfer. We were met after coming through Customs, but then led outside, up 2 flights of stairs and over to where he was parked.

Being only 5 weeks post knee op and travelling just with my 12 yr old daughter left me trying and massively struggling to carry 2 20kg cases up the stairs (driver took ski bag). Now driver did double back and take one case from me.... I had only reached step 5 in the time it took him to do that. However I find it surprising that the parking of taxis / transfers involve stairs like this to reach in an environment where you are likely to have heavy bags.

Was the driver saving money by parking where he did or is this par for the course for Terminal 2?

@NickyJ, Unless it's changed in the last year, parking for picking up arrivals in T2 is on the same level that you arrive. Out of Arrivals, turn left for public parking and right for taxis and buses, no stairs involved!
Taxis and buses need a permit to get into their parking area - maybe your guy didn't have one.

@NickyJ, Last time we were there 2 years ago you walked straight out, the buses/ taxis come down a ramp to ground level and you wheel the bags out once you cleared bag collection.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Not sure why the driver parked where they did. The normal parking spot for taxis is at ground level, turn right on coming out of baggage reclaim. It is possible that the driver of your particular vehicle couldn't access this area as it is for local taxis and buses only. If you turn left coming out of baggage reclaim you get to the public short term parking for collections. Cant see any reason why they could not park there. Even the closest multi story parking is a little walk away, though there should be lifts. The pedestrian entrance is on the arrivals level (up lifts or escalators) then flat walk with lifts to the other levels if needed. I doubt there is any cost saving unless the stay was beyond a couple of hours. It sounds as if the driver was unfamiliar with the airport layout.
