Poster: A snowHead

First Post covid trip and now youngest child has got to uni, the latest I've ever been skiing, as previously trips with kids we did at half term, and mates long weekend trips were done in Jan.
Snow over last weekend was much welcome as in common with most of the alps, Flims hasn't seen snow in March.
The ski area spans from base stations at 1100m to the top of the Vorab glacier at over 3000m with the bulk of the skiing above 1900m bar the home runs. We were skiing on piste bashed fresh snow on Monday morning with clear skies and sunshine.
Pleasantly surprised how good conditions are for April, and whilst from Tuesday onwards the home runs end up on a strip of packed snow through green meadows, the main ski area over 1900m is in pretty good nick.
Typical for the time of year, it pays to be on first gondola up and beyond 2.30pm it's getting a bit soft and sticky lower down.
Best runs are on and around the glacier, the black run down to Lavadinas is awesome, the reds on the glacier is super all day, and generally that top end of the valleys/ upper left of the piste map is where the fun is to be had.
We did the valley run round the back of Grauberg on end of Monday, which was still good to ski, but have down loaded from Plaun since then. Had snow and limited visibility on Tuesday, so Vorab glacier out of bounds due to low cloud, but then blue bird day today with crisp corduroy first thing.
A bit more snow is forecast for Friday.
There is so few people around, we haven't had to queue for a single lift anywhere, which is joyous.
April skiing, what's not to like!

Good to hear @t44tomo. I have several times commented here to those interested in Laax that the black off the glacier almost justifies the resort on its own. Have fun!

Didn't look very promising this morning as it rained overnight in town as was a bit drizzly as we set off for first gondala.
Got up there to find a nice 3-6cm of fresh snow everywhere!!
Had a range of all weather today, started of misty which burnt off to glorious sunshine. Clouded over around noon, a bit of light snow and then the wind picked up about 2pm and the snow got heavier. All the top lifts started closing, to be fair they never opened up the Vorab glacier as they knew the wind was coming.
Last couple of runs were in quite snow stormy conditions, so we took the gondola down about 2.45pm.
Aparently due 140kmh winds tonight and more snow, before hopefully calming down at dawn for our last day.

Meant to add that since 1 April, pretty much all covid restrictions lifted. So bar having to show proof of vaccination to board the plane, nothing else to do and masks no longer mandatory on trains etc in CH.
