Poster: A snowHead

Hi all,
Very excited to have booked flights to Zurich for early April. Now to choose a resort. Happy to either use a car hire or train as 4 of us anyway. 12 year old lacks confidence and prefers a gentle blue. Older girl and Dad happy with intermediate. Will be getting s/c apartment to keep cost down
browsing Laax/Flims, Klosters, Davos.

Not sure how costs compare but Western Austrian resorts such as Stuben are also within easy reach of Zurich.
Davos is very pleasant but not cheap in my experience.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Arosa? And east side of Lenzerheide should still be open then until mid April. West side closes on 3rd.

thanks. If we self cater then in-resort prices worry me less as we will have very few meals out. Arosa looks good although some lift closure worries me. I was also browsing st Moritz and that looks like quite early season end too unless i am reading the lifts wrong.
Hvae to stick to switzerland as youngest has only had 1 vaccine so far which rules out france and austria

Davos is a good call. Try to get a place in Dorf, near the Parsenn funicular

You could try Saas Fee, it's snow sure. Easy train and bus journey from airport.

We were in Grindelwald in February - just loved it. Lots to do, really interesting town with great resources if S/C, spectacular scenery etc and 3 areas to ski in. We are all keen to go back. I have heard they are extending their season into late April but don't have experience of the snow then myself. 3 hours very easy train ride from Zurich.

@wobblyice, @Soozm, Is the snow reliable in Grindelwald in April. Looks quite low to me, very low for most of the area.

@rnick, Saas Fee is a great option and our usual haunt over Easter. Always good snow in April, sometimes better or worse on the lower mountain year to year but always excellent on the glacier. And a really lovely car-free village.

We're off to Flims/Laax at similar time. Hoping skiing will ski be reasonable, there is plenty of skiing at a decent altitude, up to the small glacier at 3000m.
I learned to ski in Arosa (before it got connected to Lenzer).
Conditions are a bit ropey all over europe and covered in Saharan sand currently! Hopefully the next couple of weeks will see a dusting or two of snow

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

I really like Davos/Klosters but not sure I would go there in April. Suggest you stay high, particularly this year. Saas Fee seems a good shout. Zermatt would be also

Grindlewald looks lovely and I’ve noted it for another trip for sure!
Settled on Flims for this trip. Thanks for all the ideas.
