I saw this in the Pyrenees in the late 90s, 20cm of pink snow, nick named "Dynosnot" if you tried to ski it, it set around your feet like concrete.

Interesting. I have experienced sand on the piste quite a few times in Switzerland. Never had any problem skiing it. Maybe it is dofferent sand that falls in the Pyrenees?

After it has fallen even when fresh snow falls it always seems to melt back to that layer unless the fresh snow is really heavy which can delay it a bit.
