Poster: A snowHead

Hello all,
I'm looking for some help as to the best way to get to (ultimately) Tignes Les Brevieres on Thursday, to join a group of friends.
I can find a pretty cheap flight to GVA, but am struggling for a decent transfer or public transport option. Is GVA to BSM tricky by public transport?
The other thought I had is to get Eurostar to Paris, then TGV to Lyon, TER to Chambery, train change at Chambery to Bourg, then they can come and pick me up. About £200 all in, which doesn't feel too bad.
Has anyone done the change at Chambery? The Rail Europe site warns there's only a short (14 minute) gap between trains. Anyone have any idea of the size of Chambery-Challes-les-Eaux station, and whether that change will be easy? Just me and a small rucksack.
cheers

We have frequently taken the train from Geneva to Moutiers to be picked up by the family who work in Meribel. We usually have to change in Chambery and find the trains run exactly to time and transfer is no problem. From memory you need to get to the other platform using a tunnel under the track. Not done GVA to BSM but should be just as easy, BSM is just a couple of stops after Moutiers. My opinion would be to fly then train. You do know that you can get a free ticket to get from GVA airport to the train station? There is a machine in the baggage hall that gives out tickets for an hour free on bus/tram/train in GVA. If you try to buy a ticket from the airport to BSM they will charge a lot for the train to the central station in GVA but we have never had tickets checked from airport to central station anyway!

@mogulski, thanks for the info. How long is the trip into GVA central station from the airport? Just trying to balance flight times!

@rainman, sure you've probably seen it before, but have you checked https://www.altibus.com/en/ ?
They have a bus running at 3:30pm if that works with your schedule?

The train from the railway station at the airport to Geneva main station takes seven minutes.

I've done that journey both ways with a bike bag and a medium sized rucksack.
Chambery is a small station - I think 6-8 platforms. 14 minutes to get from one platform to another is plenty of time, especially if you've only got a small rucksack. Lyon is bigger, but still not problematic.
It's a lovely way to do the journey in summer, I'm sure it probably is in winter too. Much more civilised than flying.
