Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Anyone know of anywhere that specialises in these? mine is currently fine, but just think it would be prudent to have a spare visor put away somewhere.

Its a Cairn Cosmos Chromax.

@ster, I can't believe that site exists Shocked how bizarre.

@t44tomo, Have you tried any Cairn retailers? Also have you checked whether it's actually easy/possible to fit a replacement?

@t44tomo, I got a replacement visor for my Cairn helmet, was trying to remember where - it was a ski shop in Bourg St Maurice, so probably not much help.
(Though France is best for Cairn kit)

I got mine (for an atomic helmet) from SnowInn. I’m pretty sure that they’re drop shipping, but as long as you don’t mind a wait, mine turned up on time and was as described.

@t44tomo, Spare visors can be bought, you will have to improve your ‘Google’ skills, and search more. As mentioned start contacting Cairn stockists and see if they have any not listed on their websites.

For example:

yes i found that one, but different model helmet from those listed as compatible so probably wouldn't fit.

@under a new name, its dead easy to fit a replacement, I take the current one off and put it inside the helmet when transporting it. I think that's how most visors work so you can swap around for darker and lighter lenses if needed (like decent goggles), although mine is photochromatic so changes with the light level.

Thee are about 3 "cairn" retailers in the UK, with nothing suitable listed on their websites, although they may order in, obviously loads in France which might be next step

@t44tomo, good. I'd try the order in route, tho' possibly no stock this time of season?

@t44tomo, If your current one is OK, can you wait until you go skiing in France? The replacement I got wasn't specifically listed as for my helmet - I just looked at it and it had the same fittings as mine so went with it. That's only really possible in person though.

 snowHeads are a friendly bunch.

If I ever skied in France that would be a plan...

Fittings do look pretty standard, as long as the distance between the drilled holes are identical so it matches the helmet curvature.

I sense few emails to Cairn stockists coming on...

cheers all.
