Hello,
I'm after a pair of carving ski for use on the pistes. I've narrow my choices down to the Atomic Vantage 79 TI and the K2 Disruption MTi.
As I understand it, the Atomic will be more versatile but the K2 is more carving focus. Does anyone have experience with either of these skis and can give me some feedback on which would be better to have fun on the pistes?
My current skis are the Salomon QST 92.
According to my last instructor, I'm an early advanced level skier.
Cheers.

Have you tried either of them?

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

No I haven't. I don't know how/where to demo them and tbh have been going by all the research I can find on the internet.
My experience with narrow skis have been the cheap rental ones, Salomon S/Force, Rossignol Experience etc. So as I'm buying one I'd like to get something higher level.

If you don’t try them it’s really just guesswork. People on here might offer an opinion, but it’s really just their thoughts. Would you buy a car without a test drive?

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

I have, a BMW 3 once upon a time...
I do know what you're saying, I would love to be able to demo them but that is not likely to happen so I have to do with the best info I can get.

Just a guess, as you did with the car. But they're both nice skis, so you're unlikely to be disappointed.

"the Atomic will be more versatile but the K2 is more carving focus"
... is paid for reviewers bollcocks. Each will be as versatile as the skier, both are totally as "focused" on carving as the other.
Which graphics do you prefer? I mean, you'll see them every time you ski.

But your QST's will carve very nicely?

@spyderjon, this is an excellent point. What's wrong with the Sallies?

Read the reviews of your fellow Snowheads: https://snowheads.com/ski-forum/snowbase_list_ski_data.php?skibrand=K2#2049
The K2's were pretty terrible IMO. No idea about those particular Atomics but their dedicated piste skis (~70mm) are generally very classy. Don't blame you for getting shot of the Salomons..... I've never found a pair I liked.
Don't be fooled into thinking that all-mountain skis are a proper option, they are not good at anything, rather than being appropriate for a variety of conditions. You'll just be average everywhere. If you want carvers, buy carvers!

They're nice, but I tried a pair of Salomon S/Force skis during a trip to Borovets last month and they felt better on the slopes so I thought I get myself a narrow slopes orientated pair for that.

You gave them a 2!
It's horses for courses and that's why you can't go by what the prevailing view of a bunch of randoms on the internet is, however well they ski.
I don't get on with the Vantages or their successor and from those options would pick the harmless K2 at the drop of a hat. I don't get on with the Atomic G9 or S9s either and it was noted how much cleaner I skied on piste when I swapped out the G9s for a pair of Kastle all-mountain.
Only solution is to go and hire/demo a pair and keep swapping them until you get a pair that you love.

Yes, I've ordered a Dynastar Speedzone 10 Ti instead as I've hired it before and it was fine if I remembered things correctly. Also it's cheap enough that I won't regret if it doesn't work out, still have the QST 92.

The hiring solution is the best way of finding a pair which you love and Riccardo is completely correct when he says 'we're all different'. However, what's the point of the internet if not to insist that you are right and everyone else is wrong?! Best of luck with the new skis!
