Poster: A snowHead

Hello Snowheads,
We are a family of four heading to La Plagne for the first time this April, long weekend - 1st to the 5th and looking for any advice to make the most of our stay.
We are early but reasonably confident intermediates (this is our 4th trip) and will be staying in Andromeda in Belle Plagne. We’d really appreciate any tips. Some thoughts on our mind…
Can we expect it to be very busy at that time of year and should we look to avoid Bellcote etc.?
Are there any pistes/areas that we would be best starting with? I was thinking Arpette, Tunnel and Levasset as good candidates.
Favourite spots for lunch on that side of La Plagne?
Thanks so much for any advice you can offer.

It'll be hard to avoid Bellcotte but I don't think it would be overly busy to be honest. It's a great ski area, perfect for intermediate cruising.
Enjoy.

Oh, you’ll love it (apart from the usual long transfer to that area) - it’s got lots of intermediate level runs. Have been a few times and if you have a snowboarder amongst you, you can totally avoid any drag lifts easily here. Dont forget to go over to Les Arcs… you may as well whilst you’re there. What I like about La Plagne is being able to ski down to some little villages to have lunch - there are a number to choose from. Also the luge/bobsleigh run is great fun if you want something a little different to do in the evening. Have a great time!

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Been there a couple of times first week of April found it relatively quiet with no real queue issues.
If heading up the roche de mio you can by pass the queue for the bubble if needed by taking blanchettes and carella chairs. Carella is a nice easy long run also.

Andromeda is in the upper part of the village. Ski-out won't be an issue but ski-in can be more of a challenge. Easiest approach is from Arpette (or from Roche Dr Mio via Tunnel). Otherwise from the top of the Blanchets / Quillis chairs keep right at every junction and head for the (steep) Tyrolien drag lift, which will get you high enough to ski-in.
