Help!!
Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better!
Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

A snowHead
Hi, I want to take my son skiing for a few days and I was looking at end of Feb/beginning of March. Considering Verbier or Laax. I see that some of those dates coincide with the winter/sports break holidays for the canton, and so I just wanted to check does that mean it's very crowded? We went to Bulgaria over New Year and it was so busy on the slopes it was quite scary at times. I'm used to skiing New Year, so I'm not expecting empty slopes, how do the ski break weeks compare to New Year for example? Thanks

There’s always a sport break here in January. It does make things a little busier, particularly in self-serve restaurants at lunch time, but the kids ski in groups, so they’re organised and not just skiing where they want. It’s certainly nothing like New Year's week. I wouldn’t worry about it.
Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Maybe busier, eapecially if a sunny weekend at the start (Laax is a popular weekend spot from ZH)- but it is NOTHING like half term in France/ Austria. If you’re hiring equipment you may want to make sure you do it in advance and book instructors/ guides etc. too but thats it. Sunny weekends are busier- during the week is nice.

I'm off to Crans Montana next week - hoping that 'half term' week isn't as bad in CH as it is in France
Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

@ianm
MetéoSwiss is forecasting light snow for Crans on Friday and Monday, so that should be a very useful refresh.
