Help!!
Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better!
Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

I have flights to Geneva for 4 of us mid April and accommodation in VT. Can only find one company to transfer us and it’s £400 approx (Bens Bus). Does anyone know whether car hire would be cheaper from Geneva and what the journey is like? I have driven abroad but always either in my own car or if in a left hand drive car on a tiny Greek island. I’ve never navigated city roads or motorways in a left hand hire car! Is it an easy route?

Pretty sure it’s as good value for 4 to hire a car. And the drive is easy. Almost all autoroute.
Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Have you looked at the cost of Altibus? If you do look at hiring a car then also add in the cost of parking in Val Thorens.

Easy drive unless it's snowing. Good roads to Moutiers then 35 kms of climbing.
Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Cost wise you probably won't save much once petrol, tolls and parking in VT taken into account. You could however park free in Les Menuires and catch the bus up tho and drive via lake Annecy(nicer anyway) to avoid tolls.
The drive is easy in good weather but in a snowstorm VT is bleak and quite often the road can blend in with the snow at the sides- not for the faint hearted! Unlikely in mid April but possible.

I have hired a car in the past, but this year car hire prices have gone through the roof.
