Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Switzerland free lateral flow tests

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi all, was surprised today to get a test to return to the UK that they appear to be free in Switzerland!

Was looking at various test centres in and around Geneva and found it very difficult to actually get prices and exact details of the procedure.
Ended up using Synlab which only required you to put your name and email in to book an appointment (rather than others where you have to create a full account).
It was also the only one that made the prices clear, 36chfs for a lateral flow test (133chfs for PCR).
All the booking form was in English too.

https://booking.mysynlab.ch/en/covid/?_ga=2.28794296.568088041.1640767085-988511551.1640452854

Booked an appointment, turned up and filled in a form (had to really make sure they put the passport number on it btw).
Was quick and efficient.
When we said how do we pay they said it was free, despite us saying we weren’t Swiss and we had no Swiss insurance numbers etc.
We asked twice to make sure and they said all lateral flows are covered, only PCRs are payable by the individual!

Results came by email 30mins later.

@ish303, yes I'm flying home from Zurich early on Monday morning 3rd Jan (07:10 departure) and I'm currently in Wengen. I've booked a lateral flow test for Saturday morning at 10:40 (so well within the 48 hour limit) at the Wengen Covid testing facility. I'm fully prepared to pay, but I saw there was a notice in my hotel saying that from some date in December which I can't exactly remember all lateral flow tests are free!

Edit: The date from which lateral flow tests are free was stated to be 18th December. Note the section which says Costs (for asymptomatic persons). Antigen tests free, but PCR tests CHF150!!

Yes it changed last week because we are absolutely riddled and still have very low vaccination in comparison to rest of europe.

Could you have used a uk lateral flow kit or do they specifically require one taken in Swiss Covid Centre ? Thanks

@andolini, no I could have used a UK lateral flow kit but preferred to get one done out here, especially now if it's free!

We planned to take UK kits with us for the return, but we ended up having to use them to get in to France before the new rules came in as the PCRs weren’t going to come back in time.

Well I've just recently had my lateral flow test at the testing centre in Wengen and I got the result back (negative) by email in about 20 minutes. Moreover as I was expecting it was free! Smile Well done the Swiss!
