Which resort did you buy the PDS liftpass from. Sometimes the first use of the pass has to be in that resort. Worth checking.

Pds is indeed shared, else there's the smaller Jura sur Léman, which is also much closer to Geneva. It's not exactly a big area, but both the Swiss and French sides are good for XC and rando.

I am in the same boat and got through to the lift company who have confirmed lift pass can be activated from Swiss side fine. Just doesn’t seem to be same choice of self catering options for us on Swiss side and am a bit nervous about getting to accommodation using train/bus with all the luggage!

@Binked, as long as you are reasonably organised, Swiss transport is very well set up and timed for changing between trains, buses, boats, cable cars. Almost over-engineered you might suggest.

If you haven't used it already, the integrated train-télépherique-PostBus timetable is on the national rail's SBB website. Type in Genève-Aéroport as the 'from' location and Champéry as the destination.
I'd always go by train in preference to hire car anyway, even before the astronomical rental prices at GVA. It's especially relaxing on the return leg: no traffic jams on the A9, no having to hunt for a petrol station, no having to take the car back to the drop-off and walk/bus back to the terminal, and no danger a nutter car hire operative will damage the car in the mad dash to get it washed, then charge you for the damage.

^ or..... someone could jump in front of the train at Lausanne, you have to complete the journey to GVA in a taxi. You miss the one and only Easyjet flight to Copenhagen that day, so you have to take a train to Zurich and catch a Swissair flight. You are 400 EUR down as a result and insurance wont cover it.

I don't quite understand the point you are making, if any? Won't a far more probable road accident delay you, with similar consequences? Won't an even more probable positive Test To Return strand you at your holiday destination at immense cost? Won't a delay to your flight completely scupper your whole travel schedule?
The only point you seem to be making is that travel is fraught with risk and uncertainty, so perhaps it might be better to stay at home ..... which is perfectly reasonable, if a little negative.

Hmmm... We're in a similar position. Accommodation booked in Chatel (and PdS ski passes to be picked up there). Obviously that's in France so we're thinking of booking something late in Switzerland. Are the authorities stopping people from skiing into France? Obviously we wouldn't go into bars or anything, it's just could we ski down then catch a lift back?

@ecsleath, we’ve been in Chatel for over two weeks and there have been no checks when crossing borders back and forth in the PDS and you are fine to use restaurants in France by using your Covid pass but checking is inconsistent on the mountain but well respected in the village. (I’ve also not once been asked for my Covid pass to ride a lift). The thing to keep in mind is that Covid is spreading rapidly and it feels like an increased risk of getting infected as due to sheer numbers of people that are around, lack of social distancing in unavoidable queues, inconsistent mask wearing and poor sanitary and cleaning procedures (mountain restaurants are sloppy).
