Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Swiss resort from GVA

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Having booked France via GVA for January now we are considering staying in Switzerland (if possible at that time), does anyone have any recommendations for a resort handy to GVA in terms of accessibility. Doesn’t need to be a very big resort (let’s face it after two years without snow we would be happy with a large hill) but have some decent self catering options close by and easy enough to get to without costing a fortune. I anticipate easyJet won’t cancel the flight so it would be good to use existing flights as flight options fromBelfast are limited.
Any advice gratefully received!

We're off to Saas Fee, an easy train ride from GVA (If booking the train, make sure you go to Saas Fee not Visp, the station as that will include the bus up the mountain for the same cost). We have a great value apartment from https://www.center-reisen.ch/

^^^ Saas Fee a good choice. Picturesque car free village. High and glaciated so guaranteed good snow cover. Popular with intermediate locals here for a weekend trip.

I think we will struggle with saas fee due to our return flight being early morning and first train seems to be 5.30. Any other suggestions I can look into ? Or should we think about Car rental and trying to find parking?

@Binked, maybe stay at the Ibis or similar at GVA the night before to save on early transfer hassle.

Train to sierre , bus up , closer than Saas or Zermatt . Lovely area Great skiing and not quite so £££ as the big names . If I was going this is where I would go . Probably choose Grimnetz but Zinal and St Luc are equally good .

@Rob Mackley, agree - great option. Not quite as spectacular as Saas but great skiing and quieter

Villar, Les diablerets, Gstaad, Gsteig, Chateau d'oex, schönreid, saanenmoser, Zwiesimmen, Lenk, Adelboden. Switzerland has a massive amount of skiing beyond Verbier, Zermatt and Saas F'
There is skiing up in the Jura which I don't know.
Perhaps @Nadenoodlee, can throw in a few I have missed.
Be aware that all the above are accessible by train, exception being Gsteig......which isn't worth considering without touring gear.
