Well actually probably so, if using piste orientated gear as opposed to ski-touring kit

You don't need the "probably" there! That would have been twice as much fun on the right equipment. You should borrow or hire some proper piste skis for a day and find out. The big difference is that you'd find you were getting much higher edge angles and therefore much more G in the turns and rebound out of the tails. It is just puts a huge grin on your face and is very satisfying. Personally I'd go whole hog and get hold of some FIS SLs. If I was in the alps as much as you I'd DEFINITELY pick up a second hand pair. I got some in very good nick for £100 from a snowhead. Some of the best money I've ever spent. The skis are so solid they will last forever when you are only using them a few days a season.

Stick 10-20m of fresh snow on top of the strips and it would be loads better

This. Pick up some heavy, solid GS skis. It's like going from a Lada to a Ferrari on-piste. So much more fun (on-piste) than off-piste/all mountain skis.

@jedster, I know, I know, I've come so close to pulling the trigger on some Slalom skis on more than a couple of occasions, but it's so rare to get optimal conditions (empty pistes) like we're currently experiencing, and I'd normally be doing XC skating.
@Frosty the Snowman, true we did say if we'd had the fresh of last week, and the empty pistes then we would have really silly grins on our faces.
I'll be working on today's production, later on, let's just say with all that room it's still possible to take your mate out.
Here's a teaser, guess what happened next

This;
But it has to be on top of perfect corduroy (rather than hiding moguls)
Also enough fresh snow falling that by the time you get back up the lift your tracks have been filled in

You know it makes sense.

I just find you can fly at the moguls because of the cushioning and speed control impact of the fresh layer. It's a bit like a mini pillow line

@Weathercam, what camera set up were you using for that video? Been to SC once in feb 20 and it peed down for 2 days then froze over and all links were closed due to dangerous conditions..ended up with last 2 days which were decent skiing..looks like you have excellent conditions at the moment (we do in ischgl right now )
