Hello,
Why in slalom discipline are there sometimes “double” poles (i mean left, right, left right..and the suddenly two adjacent poles and then again left, right, left...and so on) ? Thank you.

@novice007, Slalom used to require two poles that you went between for all the gates. It was decided that this wasn't really needed and they would only be kept for the first and last ones and for any more complicated patterns. This can be done for Giant Slalom too.

@novice007, If poles are a different colour then they belong to different gates, you leave out the matching one of the same colour if it is obvious (to a racer) where it would be.
The wiki link above has a diagram of how courses used to be with pairs of poles the same colour for every gate.

Ooooops. The gates are vertical, i was looking for them horizontal...Now that makes sense.
