Poster: A snowHead
|
Hi everyone,
I am wondering if anyone can help me.
Myself and my partner have been doing ski seasons for around 5 years now, we recently stopped due to COVID, next year I am re thinking to work abroad again, however we have now got a dog and I am not sure of any English company's that allows dogs to come abroad with you.
Does anyone know of any organisations that accept pets?
I do not need information on the travelling aspect (Vaccines, Passport ETC).
Would be great to hear your feedback.
Kind Regards,
Amelia

It's not clear what you mean - do you mean working for a UK TO in a chalet etc? Assuming you've got post Brexit working entitlement sorted then I guess your main chance is with some of the smaller operators who might be willing to accomodate a pet.
Otherwise if you're just looking to rent a place for a season I assume there will be some pet friendly landlords.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Hi,
Either one really, i have always worked with UK organisations, (TUI, Crystal Ski, VIP SKI,ETC) just trying to figure out if either of these accept pets aboard or private landlords and look for work when your out there.
Thank you,
Amelia.

I know a couple that worked for Tui in Austria a few years ago that had a dog. They stayed in private accommodation, don't know what the deal with Tui was as regards costs. Maybe they got an allowance towards accommodation, you would have to ask Tui.
Your bigger issue might well be eligibility to work in EU following Brexit assuming you are UK passport holders.

@amelia_eyre, if you are both UK passport rather than EU passport holders, isn't that going to put a big Brexit shaped spanner in your plans?

@amelia_eyre, you might find another issue is getting documentation for your dog for a longer term stay. The UK is no longer part of the pet passport scheme. There is a long thread on this around here somewhere with lots of details. As far as I understand it people have managed to get EU pet passports (say French) for their dogs but need to get expensive UK paperwork first, then jump through a bunch of bureaucratic hoops.
My experience is that dogs are far more accepted in the rest of Europe than the UK, we take ours pretty much everywhere, no issue finding places to stay or taking her into restaurants though obviously not food shops.

@ameila_eyre
I work for one of the orgs you've mentioned and have a dog. You'll need to sort private accom, and of course make sure that pooch doesn't impede your availability to work (transfer disruptions etc). You'll likely need to make your own way out to resort too (can't have a dog on a staff coach).
PM if you want any more advice
