As above - contributions invited on fellow return to Alpine snow
Mrs MA and I arrived in Austria today & skied late pm at Stubai. It seems surreal to be be back in The Alps - almost like the day would never come. It's just fantastic and something we will never ever take for granted again. We were practically overawed as the mountains and views are just mindblowing.
The icing on the cake was the snow down to valley level in Stubai - we felt like kids at Christmas .
Yes, it's good to be back

Sledging in Flumserberg today with the kids, plenty of people out touring. Decent snow at 1350m - fabulous further up.

Left Fulpmes digs at 07.45. Mainly ok but some stop start traffic and queued the last km to the car park.
The place was absolutely mobbed. God knows how many tickets they sold - seemingly unlimited. Some runs were dangerously busy - with reckless high speed skiers playing human slalom Queues were manageable at up to 5 mins. Longest wait was 8 mins for the T-bar at the bottom of the terrain park.
Was a bit surprised to see that the gondolas were being filled to capacity and were, at times, jam packed. As were the ski buses that we saw leaving at close of play.
We managed to have a good time though - still some places that were relatively quiet and great snow overall. Even managed a few powder turns before discovering that it was rockier than it looked...
On the way back down, we saw that an overspill car park had been created in a field 10 km down the valley. A very busy day indeed.

@mountainaddict, Nice. I considered it for about 5 seconds this morning, but as I'm not big on queues, looks like I made the right decision to do some housework/shopping/cooking instead. Glad you good decent conditions though.

No capacity restrictions this year, due to the ridiculous queues it creates.

Ta for clarifying. I must be mistaken as I thought I'd read that (somewhere...) gondolas were being run at reduced capacity. Clearly wasn't Austria.
Stubai has a three day equipment testing-fest and competition going on. That and all the fresh snow this week have resulted in the carnage

@mountainaddict, be wary of straying off the pistes, 3 have been rescued from crevasses in Hintertux in the last course of weeks.
