Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Helmet for long hair

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
I have very long and quite thick hair, and I find that I can't wear it in a ponytail or single plait as it gets in the way of the collar on my jacket. The only option seems to be to wear it in two plaits, which isn't really me and is a nuisance. Does anyone have a helmet recommendation that is suitable for someone who could pass for Cousin It? I don't have this problem with either my riding hat or cycle helmet! Thanks

@doclaura, my helmet has a 'pony tail port'. My sons both have very long hair, one with dreads and one very thick and quite curly. Neither of them have complained about their Smith helmets.

A friend puts her hair into two plaits but then bends them up and tucks them under her goggle strap.

I tame my hair under a balaclava then helmet which is also a Smith.

I find I can pull down the head part of the balaclava if its warm and wear it as a buff and it still keeps hair flattened around the neck area.

I use a flat hair dip as it spreads the thickness more then a ponytail. Then I put on a balaclava. Yes, it's a mess at the end of the day. But I'm past the apres bar phase of life.
