I’m looking for a wider piste ski that is good on groomers and in choppy conditions, maybe a skinnier tail? I am an advanced intermediate skier. Last year I used piste focused AM skis (black crows vertis) but would like to try a piste ski again, avoiding really stiff race piste skis.

From what I’ve read 75-80 mm would be good for me. And maybe some tail rocker so they are not too difficult to break out/release on the steeper stuff.
Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Thanks, but I think I would like something between 75 -80 wide
Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Elan Wingman 78 could be a good option for you, slightly narrower. I'm a big big fan of Elan skis, particularly the Wingman range both 78 and 86 waist.
Interesting what you said about the Vertis. Black Crows replaced it this year with the Octo which seems like a Mirus Cor / Vertis hybrid - I'm keen to try it.
@JRB747373, a little wider than your personal target, "kastlé FX 86 ti" would have many attributes that fit your demand.
Characteristic in these ski, and their wider example, a very wide "gateway" performance envelope in my experience of them. They just seem to cover and extend into aspects peripheral and with such accomplished technical performance.
That group of ski from each manufacturer, 80~90mm waist dimension, appear to have the focus you want of "wide piste ski" some rocker etc to give very evolved performance. Others will have their favourite, it's quite a well serviced sector, with many others to choose from.
Group tests published with this Kastlé included will give you some decent comparison to consider.
I wouldn't be so hard in targeting 80mm as maximum. The make-up and geometry of this mid 80mm sector brings some seriously good skis that easily extend into very high on piste performance, while adding something extra.
Then you can post your own questions or snow reports...

What are you wanting from the ski that you didn't get from the Vertis? They appear to be 85mm underfoot and read as a decent ski on groomers and choppy conditions!

@kitenski, was thinking the same

I did like the Vertis, I just want to try some others, maybe a tad more carve orientated.
I’ve been looking at the volkl deacon 80, dynastar m cross 82, elan wingman 82 ti and Rossignol 82 basalt.
Does anyone have experience with these or know what type of skier would suit one best?

@JRB747373, You can probably find the info you're looking for by going through the Ski Essentials ski tests.
The Peregrine is the new version of the deacon right?
From what I’ve read the deacon/peregrine 80 seem best for what I want
Otherwise you'll just go on seeing the one name:

A vote for the Montero AXs , found them a few years back and have been a convert. Have found them to be really good both on piste and on ski routes (mostly ungroomed stuff). Biggest downside is the cost, 3rd mortgage required!
