Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Ascent & Descent of La Muzelle

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
The big peak 3465m which dominates here. It normally get climbed and skied about once a year when conditions are perfect. Starting from Venosc it's about 2665m of ascent/descent. First time I've seen a video made. I've hiked to the refuge which was their overnight stop and that was hard enough work. Especially poignant as one of their mates was killed in an avalanche here at the weekend.

Oh, putain, c'est pas evident! Laughing
Fascinating but terrifying. And an interesting variety of accents there, there was one guy I couldn't understand at all!
Loved the idea of measuring the steepness with a glass of chartreuse (yuck). Laughing
Thanks for posting.

There are two accents. Raph Depoivre, the guy with the mustache, sounds almost like he's got a Haute-Savoyarde or Jura lilt but a lot of the montagnards speak like that, a bit djeunz rustique. Allan Dupont, beardy, has a southern accent... but that might just be the Champsaur or Villar d'Arene as southern accents begin almost at the gates of Grenoble.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

As we were skinning up towards Diable today we could see that there were people and tracks on La Muzelle. Looked as though perhaps half a dozen had skied it today. Our view across today, I've marked where we could see them, coming down the glacier.
