FIS and IOC give GB's Sarah Lewis the boot

Ok you may not know who Sarah Lewis is but she worked for the federation since 1994 and served as its secretary general since 2000. She was fired with immediate effect, the FIS citing "loss of confidence" in the GB skier.

Lewis was an alpine ski racer and a member of the British national team from 1982 to 1988. She took part in the 1987 Ski World Championships in Crans Montana and the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary. She was campaigning to be the FIS president and it appears the "loss of confidence" was that she was using her positing to fund and campaign for this role. According to Swedish Television she was spending most of her time on the campaign trail and this was considered unfair to other candidates for the post.

Somewhat bizarrely the FIS has had only two presidents, both Swiss men, for almost 70 years. The current Swiss ski federation president, the 1993 downhill world champion Urs Lehmann, has declared his candidacy.

In a double whammy for Lewis the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has confirmed Sarah Lewis is no longer a member of the Beijing 2022 Coordination Commission following her departure as secretary general of the International Ski Federation (FIS)

just that she was allegedly using her office to fund her election campaign in detriment to other candidates but maybe the FIS just want another Swiss male president?

She has announced that she is a candidate for the election for president of FIS.

An article in the Dauphiné has a link to a Twitter message. Not sure why Johan Eliasch is being supported by GB Snowsport as a candidate, he has had no contact with the grassroots of the sport.
