Same here. Not really planning any "holiday travel". I'm not depressed - it just seems so far off, and so uncertain. Not that I do usually plan holidays much in advance. As with last summer I hope and expect to be doing quite a lot of sailing, but that's with local friends - and in somebody else's boat, so nothing that I can, or should, plan. Nothing that needs to be booked. I find myself more and more living "in the moment", mostly quite enjoying each day that comes along, asking VERY little of myself, not blaming myself for achieving very little. Just had an email from the (excellent) leader of our U3A French group, with our homework for Wednesday's session. That'll do me, for when I sit down feeling moderately productive. I do vaguely look forward to being able to go to France and actually speak it! But again, no need to plan for that - and no point in doing so at present.

It did in the Summer - but I didn't book anything as I believed it was unlikely to happen.
Will start again, probably in early Spring, if the vaccines start proving effective - especially against mutations. When Skiers get optimistic about 2022, I expect there will be significant demand.

@mountainaddict, absolutely, for me, I almost enjoy planning as much as actually doing the holiday! We've booked an apartment in Meribel for next January, and I moved our cancelled march flights this morning.
Easter flights will be moved as soon as they're cancelled.
Soon I'll start planning our campervan trip to the dolomites for September.
Due to my girlfriends work, she needs to be a bit more prepared in terms of knowing when she needs/wants to take annual leave, so it makes sense for us to think about it earlier.

Yup. I’m a fastidious planner when it comes to holidays. We were lucky to get to Les Get for the 1st week of Feb 2020 before it all kicked off, though we are fairly convinced we contracted Covid on the last day! On the last evening both my daughters got very ill very quickly and lost their sense of taste and smell (this was before it was a known symptom).
We were also lucky enough to get away in the summer too. We drove to the Dordogne for a glorious and isolated 2 weeks.
Currently looking at a week in half term in either Italy or Austria and another week in Les Gets for the first week on Easter (but that will depend on how much snow there is early in the season). Also planning 2 lads weekends away to Italy.
Edit: I’ve also booked 10 days in Britanny in August (though I’m not convinced this will go ahead) and we’ve booked a week in the Trossachs over Christmas week. I’ll be stashing my skis and boots in the car just in case there’s any white stuff up on Glencoe!

@pam w, no I'm not depressed either, but I will be ecstatic when I can travel. To be fair my trips don't take any real planning. a bit of googling for summer hols and that's it

I'm not looking at all. I'm pleased it works for you, but I find the experience to be the opposite of yours - nothing positive about it due to the never-ending uncertainty. It all feels rather disheartening to me.

I fall into the same camp of "not planning holidays much in advance". I rarely plan holidays far in advance. Even less so skiing holidays as it's so very weather dependent.
I sympathize with those who own property abroad but can't go though. I'm living in a country I'm not born in because I like living here more than I like living in where I was raised. I moved around a few times before settling where I am. There're a lot of things I enjoy locally, and I build a network of friends locally too.
So last March, when the lockdown was first imposed. I simply went out mountain biking in the woods, kayaking the lakes and coastal water. This ski season, I mostly skied locally (nordic). We were blessed with above average snow this year which really helps.
I missed seeing the rest of my family over Christmas. Hopefully the next one will be ok.

Without risking widespread hatred amongst other snowheads, I went skiing today. Not much planning involved, just who's going, which mountain, what time, etc. It was bloody cold.
Last summer I quite enjoyed the opportunity to discover other parts of Austria, so I'll do that again this summer, minimal planning needed. Not sure I can face the prospect of cross border travel until things feel a lot more normal (although a shopping trip to Germany might be possible at some point).
