Help!!
Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better!
Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

I have a family trip booked to Passo Tonale for half term, Sat 19 - Sat 26th Feb 2022. I see that Carnevale is 1st March. Do Italians take holidays for a full week for Carnevale, and if so is it the week I'm going or the week beginning 26th Feb? I can't stand crowded resorts, and if my holiday dates clash with Italian holiday dates I could possibly change to the week beginning 13th March instead. I don't really want to do that as it would mean taking my daughter out of school for four days (she has a day off for Paddy's day).

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I think that means both Austria and Italy are good for that earlier half term week then? I think most of the UK half term is the following week judging by the prices being charged.
I have 2 countries to look for something in then!
Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

UK HT is mostly 12-19th Feb 2022, so you'll misss them.
Italian schools don't tend to have a HT in Feb as most of their holidays are loaded into a long summer break.
Some areas have a long weekend that extends to Shrove Tuesday/Carnevale, so that will be from 26th Feb to 1st Mar.
Bavaria tends to have its school break that week too, but that is significant only in parts of Italy frequented by them, ie. South Tyrol.
It's February, so high season, but you should be OK in Passo Tonale on your week. Weekend days will be busiest with Italian day trippers if the sun is shining and the snow is good.
