Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

2nd hand skis

What should one expect to spend on a good 2nd hand pair of alpine skis.
Im an 18M heading out to St. Anton for a season, so is it best to buy some in the resort or buy some online?
I'm an advanced skier who likes to do a fair bit of off piste but can't work out which skis are best at a low price.
Thanks!

Well, if you’re heading to a resort, most rental/sales hire shops will happily allow you to test a range of skis if you’re thinking of buying.

Last December, I bought, from a hire shop, Atomic Redster G9’s used for 7-10 days at a third of their retail price, having tested a few pairs. More than happy.

@GeorgeP0902, but locally when you get there. If they’re in a shop, you can test them, otherwise get on the fb buy/sell groups and you can at least view them before purchasing and negotiate on the price.

St. Anton isn't exactly renowned for cheap kit. It is however, renowned for loads of dudes strutting round town with fat skis on their shoulders. So yes, it is possible to pick up real bargains in resort but they're more likely at the other end of the season and they're probably more likely to come from 'lucky' personal contacts as you'll have lots of competition

Have you checked the buy/sell forum?
For example: These Bent Chetlers look like a total bargain! £200 for virtually new skis.

I can't say whether they're suitable to your needs/tastes/budget.
