It will need 50 of us to nominate snowheads.com before it becomes available as an option to vote for for 'best winter website' - you just have to register and then click the "Don't agree? Nominate here" link.
C'mon, we should have it as a voting option before lunchtime!

Yeah, but when I tried nominating snowheads on your linked page it wouldn't accept it - I had to register first and then make my way to the nominations page. Am I doing something wrong?

Another thought - as nominations will probably be counted electronicaly, and thus the 50 nominations will probably have to be character to character identical, can I suggest that all nominations are enetered as:
snowheads.com
Or am I just being a bit anal?

I think keeping it to the full www.snowheads.com is best - other websites have the full address and we may be splitting the vote otherwise

I still believe the SCGB production is the best UK ski website overall, and will be voting for it. I'm lobbying hard for a reversal of the lock-out, which has been so counter-productive to the Club.

Whaddf*** are the Snowawards? It just looks like some kind of scam to get their logo on winners websites and to gather mailing list details. Boycott lame web awards.

You know it makes sense.

The cynic in me is a little inclined to agree that this is possible Sh-m but, SCGB is touting it on their front page (where non-members can read it) some of our lost people may follow the link to the awards and 'wonder' what 'snowHeads' is: 'Klick' and they're home.
Good reason to go for the 50 nominations?

I've added my nomination.
I note the votes don't close 'till October 2004.
Seems a bit late in the year for something aimed at the ski industry...more in line with the mailing list industry...as already suggested.
The web site at the otherplace might have been the best, once, but how long will the information contained remain current, with a major feed (the open forum) cut off ?

Brian Barrett, Don't forget the PARIS HILTON SEX TAPES, Cialis and Viagra (or have you classified these two under pint extensions)?

Nor the offers to give a part of the 20m$ to you by some son of a deposed/dead official in Nigeria or some other African country. All you need to do is give me your bank account details and I'll pass them on.

Sorry about that, couldn't resist. However I have just nominated and it's still not on the list but I think it's a manual system rather than electronic.

masopa, I know I'm going to regret this but ...
what is Cialis - I seem to have missed that one
BTW - Did anyone see there a few months back where one of the spammers took a spamee (he who received spam) to court for threatening to kill him and his family if he didn't stop sending unsolicited email?
The Spammer won the case and damages I think.
I believe it was in Canada.
The spammer claimed that he had been unfairly targeted by the spamee because he ran a completely seperate pint Extension spaming operation and had never targeted the person in question.
Going way off topic arn't I - sorry

Just to clear up a point - none of the information gathered can be used unless it's opted. That's to say, you have to indicate either that you wish not to receive any marketing material, or indicate that you do. I saw no such opportunity (although that's not to say I missed it).
If your data gets used without your permission, that is illegal.

I think there was a receive email check box on the sign up page. It was defaulted to false - again I think. I never trust them though.

You are right there Mark but I did notice an "opt in" for e-mails which implies that they do intend to use the data. However there should have been a clear statement of intent at the begining of the form to say what they intended to use the data collected for. If after they have said that you give them your details you have automatically opted in. You do not need an opt out clause. The only exception to this is the aforementioned e-mail which must be opt in.
If we receive any mail as a result thay are definitely in breach of DP law and we could sue.

Michael B,
Is this the same Michael that went to La Plagne on the 25th of Jan ? If so, apologies to you, as we mentioned the possibility of meeting up on 'the other site' but it went quiet on my side because I managed to book something up for the previous week

Thanks to all of you who voted so far. It is not a scam. It is just an new independant event, established to reward and recognise what is now a massive industry in the UK.

Hi Marc, I noticed that we have had quite a few people referred to our site from yours, so I thought I'd log in to say 'Thanks for the support'.
The Snow Awards are voted for by the Public and we need everyone to get behind it.

Hi David. We do not intend to sell any of the database. We ask for this information so that all votes are to the best of our knowledge legitimate and can be accounted for. This will help to make them as accurate as possible and discourage multi voting.
The awards will be held in November (a time when alot of the industry is in the UK for other events) and so we have decided to leave the voting open as late as possible.
